Custom Solutions
APS specializes in systems that electrically produce atmospheric plasma, many of which operate in air without the need for specialty gases. The potential applications of such versatile technology are virtually unlimited, from coating removal and surface treatment to plasma catalyzed chemistry and deposition.
APS has been providing custom solutions for customers with unique needs since 2005. We are always happy to discuss the merits of plasma and share our knowledge with others so they may evaluate our solutions’ value to their industry.
Example SOLUTIONS & APPLICATIONS
- Dielectric barrier discharge (DBD)
- Surface biological sterilization
- Skin treatments with plasma
- Reverse vortex flow plasma systems

When a specialized biomedical company wanted to ramp up from pilot to full scale by making the switch from a vacuum-based, batch plasma process over to a continuous manufacturing approach, they reached out to get our help. The APD-2110 was the resulting innovation:
CUSTOM SOLUTION
Designed for industrial applications requiring between 10 and 500 watts of plasma power, the APD Series of supplies and applicators provides an environmentally friendly means of processing materials including surface cleaning, modifying surface energy, thin-film deposition, and lubricant immobilization.
Treat the entire surface with a diffuse atmospheric plasma without the need for expensive and production limiting vacuum plasma technology, lowering both operation cost and time.
Our advanced internal process control software can be configured for automated production use or manual control for process development, through either the front panel or remote control through standard industry remote interfaces. Internal monitoring hardware provides a high level of control of the plasma process, to ensure high-quality, consistent performance.
Proven plasma crosslinking and immobilization of silicone oil syringe lubricants to reduce foreign particle contamination by more than 85%. The process required minimal changes to the production line and no changes to any of the product’s components which kept all of the quality systems intact.
The plasma affects the surface by either delivering the reactive species required for the modification, or by delivering energy to the surface to initiate a reaction as is the case with plasma-facilitated cross-linking. This atmospheric plasma process can be used to quickly improve the adhesion of two materials. An air plasma treatment of around 100 milliseconds is often all that is needed to greatly enhance adhesion and bonding on difficult-to-bond materials. Even Teflon and silicone surfaces can be plasma treated to provide reliable adhesion using atmospheric plasma technology.
